Carex muskingumensis

I've pushed down several stems to isolate only one in above photo

Unique appearance of this grass is due to lateral leaves radiating from its central stem. Colour is mid-green.

Growth habit erect to decumbent.

Should be grown in moist soil in full sun, or can be grown in drier soil in shade... we grow it in shade. One book I have says it will spread by rhizomes to become an effective groundcover. I only wish, because it has been very slow growing in my garden, maybe due to it being grown in heavy shade. I'd like to divide it and grow in it several more spots.

Hardy to zone 4.

Glen's score:  7.

Thanks to our friend Grace for giving us this plant.
