Look up to see us, we live in Regina, a city of about 185,000 people in the middle of of the Canadian prairies. Our climate is sunny, dry, and windy in the summer, and very cold in the winter. Yearly high is 36C (97F), yearly low is -40C (-40F). This is a dry climate - annual precipitation is 403 mm (16").
If you're an optimist, we garden in hardiness zone 3a, and we're in zone 2b if you're a cautious gardener. An interest of ours is trying to overwinter tender perennials rated zone 5 and sometimes higher.
We have a short growing season - we average only 109 frost-free days each year: May 24 to September 11.
Saskatchewan has both beautiful prairie grasslands, and abundant forests. We enjoy photographing native wildflowers, and will be adding photographs of our favourite wildflowers from the southern half of the province to this website.
