'Atropurpurpea'

Great foliage plant. Leaves resemble those of Astilbe. The variety 'Atropurpurea' has some light purple colouring on leaves and stems; 'Brunette' has dark purple foliage.

This is a shade perennial, prefers rich, humusy soil.

Leaves grows to a height of about 4 feet, flower stems / spikes to 7 feet.

White flower spikes appear in mid to late August and are very fragrant.

Hardy zone 3.
