Codonopsis pilosula

Vine which can grow to 8 to 10 feet in height, rather non-descript whitish-green, bell-shaped flowers.

Stinks like a skunk (no I'm not kidding), and is a rampant self-seeder.

I thought it would be charming to have this vine wind its way through a small tree. A mistake, would have completely covered the tree given another couple of years. Belongs on a trellis, if at all in a garden. The mother plant is now long since removed, but I'm still weeding out skunky seedlings under that tree.

Hardy zone ?, overwintered in our garden in zone 2-3.

Glen's score:  1.
