Atractive foliage plant. We grow them in shade and partial shade. Likes rich, moist soil. Leaves will burn if soil dries out too much.
Summer bloomer. Fluffy white flower plumes similar to Astilbe. I've found this species has larger leaves than its cousins R. pinnata, and R. aesculifolia. Each of these Rodgersia take 2-3 years to settle in before they'll bloom, add at least one more year if it is a 1st year seedling.
The foliage grows about 18" tall for us. Will eventually form a clump 3 feet wide.
Hardy zone 3.
Glen's score: 7.
