Tulipa tarda

Blooming in April in our rock garden... (also dead Lewisias (grrr) at 12 o'clock and 2 o'clock)

Spring-blooming bulb having deep yellow flowers, with white tips. Hardy, easy to grow. Have a low-growing, prostrate form that makes them suitable for my rock garden.

The above plants are still quite young - were planted in fall of one year, and these photos were taken the next spring.

Another prostrate Tulip that I want for my garden is Tulipa humilis, some of whose cultivars are attractive shades of crimson and burgundy.

Hardy zone 3.

Height is 3", spread of 12".

Glen's score:  7.
