We've ordered perennials from a number of Canadian companies over the last few years.  Here are our favourite mail order sources for perennials (favourite = good selection + good service).

Cimicifuga ramosa 'Brunette'
, which I purchased by mail order from a Canadian nursery.

ALCLA on the net

Native perennials, grasses, a few annuals, and a few shrubs.  Reasonable prices. Sell Canadian prairie native plant seeds, too.

Beaver Creek Greenhouses

Excellent selection of hardy alpine and rock garden plants.

Fraser's Thimble Farms

Salt Spring Island, BC

FTF on the net

Good selection of perennials, best selection of ferns I've seen, and an amazing selection of hardy orchids e.g. Lady Slippers (but don't expect bargain prices on the orchids for your garden).

Hole's Greenhouses & Gardens Ltd.
101 Bellrose Drive
St. Albert, AB
T8N 8N8

Good selection of perennials, grasses, shrubs (lots of roses). Every year are adding more and more hard to find plants for collectors. Good stuff. (I'm hoping I can order Green Bog Orchid and/or Long Bracted Bog Orchid from them in 2001).

Lost Horizons

Great selection of perennials. Quite the catalogue. Recommended.

Local garden club plant exchanges / sales.

We've acquired some very interesting perennials via the Saskatchewan Perennial Society's spring and fall plant exchanges.  Check out your local horticulturial society / garden club plant swaps and sales.
