SECOND COMING, REGINA, 1975

Here in Regina, Saskatchewan
cued to whistle April lullabies
over a new nest of thoughts,
I twitter of new leaves, new grasses,
new flowers.
But snow, "rough beast slouching"
over the prairie suggests
the second coming
of an age of ice.
